RUesell Mr. J, Kingston Last week you requested that the new formulations for Y-5256/57 be released with copies to Mr. w. H. Phillips for costing. Y-5257-A Epoxy Self-Priming Mastic Hardener and Y-5256-C Epoxy Self-Priming Mastic have been Issued. These formulations reflect the change to lead-free pigmentation and the use of Rule 66 solvents. In addition the requested change from the present amine converter to an amine adduct converter has been made with the corresponding mix ratio Changed from 16.il to 10*1. These changes will require extensive label and literature changes to reflect these modifications. In addition the new formulation can be made on the Cowles to greatly Increase production capacity. In the discussion with you today, it was agreed to underfill 5256 in a five gallon can (4 gal. 70 fl* oz.) and one gallon can (116 fl. or,.)* The corresponding converter would be filled 58 fl. oz. in 1/2 gallon can and 12 fl. oz. in l pint.can.. Thus the mixed unit would be a full five gallons and 1 gallon respectively. It ie understood that all of the chemical teeta have not been completed but have proceeded sufficiently to warrant release of the formula which is comparable to the present product in performance.
