Dear Ms. Rhones:
The following letter is designed to be an addendum to my Freedom of Information request of Jan. 29, 1985,as we discussed on the telephone. Portions of this letter should serve to clarify or elaborate on my Jan. 29 request and portions will undoubtedly add new items that I hope will be pursued.
First, at the outset, I will say that I want all available records on the subject areas previously mentioned for all divisions and subsidiaries of W.R. Grace Company, meaning my request applies to any facility in any state that is connected to Grace. In my Jan. 29 letter, I named the key divisions of the company, under which various facilities fall but I didn't name all the facilities. In this letter, I have broken down the facilities I'm interested in by E.P.A. region - as we discussed on the ohone. Please send me information on all that you can. Please continue to search for the same categories of data, namely: 1) Quarterly noncompliance reports on Clean Water Act provisions; 2) All data in the Superfund Tracking System on any site connected to W.R. Grace Co. (its divisions and subsidiaries included) 3) Compliance records under R.C.R.A. for the companies mentioned and any RCRA compliance data for any of the facilities named in this letter. 4) Records of all violations and enforcement actions, both judicial and administrative, that have been taken against W.R. Grace Company or any subsidiaries from 1974 to the present.
One important note: Please advise anyone processing this to include any information about facilities that I have not mentioned that are
owned totally or partially by W.R. Grace Co., its divisions or subsidiaries. I've included all the ones I know of based on company materials. However, certain facilities - whether they're chemical manufacturing centers, oil or gas operations or mines - might show up in some searches by regional offices. For one important example, I . didn't mention in my Jan. 29 letter anything about a vermiculite mine in Libby, Montana owned by W.R. Grace. This time, I've included it as part of my request for Region 8.
I want to say I have really appreciated the cooperation of various E.P.A. offices in trying to respond to my request. Thank you. I hope you keep calling me at 293-9142 for clarifications on any of this additional information.
