Bob Ondocsin Kim Reed Has Shah CMA CMA CMA y# K 1.0 The Panel approved the December 9, 1993 Record of Conference Call as written. 2.0 The Panel reviewed the February 10, 1994 response from ENSR to the Panel's December 3, 1993 letter with questions regarding the data from the previous studies on vinyl chloride workers conducted for CMA. Greg Bond reported that the data from these studies by the Environmental Health Associates are available to ENSR for a potential update of the epidemiology study. The data are stored off-site, but can be retrieved at a cost. If the Panel updates the study, permission from non-participating companies to update the mortality experience of their workers will be necessary. 3.0 The Panel discussed the possibility of updating the epidemiology study. Company representatives at the meeting agreed that it would be beneficial to update the study. The additional 10 years of data may help resolve the issue of other causes of deaths in addition to liver angiosarcomas related to vinyl chloride exposure. The updated findings also would aid in risk management. Dr. Bond will draft a scope of work and a benefits document to support the ne d to update the study and send these items to Dr. Shah for distribution to the Panel. Dr. Bond also will identify three contractors, in addition to ENSR, who have the ability to perform the update. Once a scope of work is established, Dr. Shah will arrange a conference call in late April to discuss the study update. Dr. Shah will attempt to contact Union Carbide Corporation and Westlake to see if these two companies would consider contributing to the study update. Commitment forms will be distributed following receipt of bids from contractors and agreement of a cost-sharing formula. 107199 ROM VCRC February 14, 1994 Page 2 4.0 The Panel discussed the possibility of conducting research on a post 1972 cohort.
