' Dear Mr. Cort: This will confirm our telephone conversation of this morning during which I advised you that in an earlier telephone con versation today with Mr. Wilcox of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation Mr. Wilcox advised me that he had been advised by Mr. Hunnicut of War Assets Administration that War Assets Administration had released its letter approving the August 20 date for surrender by us of Power Plant No. 1 at Plancor 264, Lake Charles, Louisiana. Mr. Wilcox advised me that Recon struction Finance Corporation's attorneys would send us offi cial notice with respect to War Assets Administration's approval today. Mr. Wilcox also discussed with Mr. Hunnicut War Assets Administration's willingness to Southern Alkali Corporation's entering into a contract for stand-by power with Mathieson for an initial period of eighteen months rather than the one year recited in your letter agreement to us dated July 24. Mr. Wilcox told me I might quote him and Mr. Hunnicut to him to the effect that it is of no consequence to War Assets Adminis tration whether the stand-by agreement running from Southern to Mathieson be for an initial period of twelve months or eighteen months. Mr. Wilcox further suggested that I convey this information to you.
