Asbestos Handling
Attached for your approval is a proposed method for handling asbestos material by Arthur Brothers Personnel. This should meet OSilA and ?A requirements.
A four-man demolition crew will be assigned to handle all asbestos material. Prior to their handling any asbestos material, they will have a medical examination as required by 03KA. Medical records will be maintained on each individual and will be retained for at least twenty years. A yearly medical examination will be given to each employee actively handling asbestos material. In addition to the four-man demolition crew, a crew of three employees will be established for handling asbestos for the Plastics Company.
The initial handling of asbestos material must be monitored in order to determine the extent of exposure to personnel of airborne asbestos fiber. Protective clothing and respirators must be worn by employees. It is suggested that disposable coveralls be pro vided. This will eliminate complicated laundering procedures required by 03HA. These coveralls cost $2 a piece. During cold weather, a slicker suit can be substituted for coveralls; however, .special cleaning procedures must be performed. Slicker suits must b.? cleaned daily by a vacuum cleaner or wet wiped with a disposable material. Reusable or single use respirators should be sufficient when handling material that is impregnated with asbestos, while a full-face, powered air respirator should be used vniie handling loose asbestos fiber.
cached is an Asbestos Handling Procedure which, w
be followed
