CHLORINATED METHANE PRODUCTS COMMUNIQUE' Rev. 7/19/93:jpw DOW CONFIDENTIAL Training & Development Procedures Chlorinated Methanes CMP PROCEDURE VENT RECOVERY START UP PROCEDURE PROCEDURE # PURPOSE To assist the operator with the safe start up of vent recovery. SCOPE RELATED PROCEDURES DEFINITIONS Step required to start up vent recovery in a safe and proper manner. Mod V start up checklist. Vent Recovery shutdown Lining up a control valve- Upsteam and downstream manual B/V's open and bypass closed. All bleeds closed and blinded or plugged. Air lined up to control valve. Lining up a mag drive pump: Suction and discharge valves are lined up. ARC recirculation or manual recirculation is open. Oil mist and/or other bearing lubrication is OK. All bleed valves are closed and blinded or plugged. 4> All sample points are reconnected. Seal or bearing flush is lined up. Working pressure gauge is installed and lined up. Switchgear is racked in and reset. Both motors have been bumped. Pump switch has been placed in automatic position. SAFETY CONCERNS & Minimum Block Standards EQUIPMENT ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS Ensure all bleed valves are blinded or plugged. SPECIAL CONCERNS None. Revision# 2. NOTE: The only time this check sheet needs to be filled out, is if we are down for an extended period of time. This procedure assumes that K-l 100 is running. OUTSIDE CHECKLIST: Step Action Check 1 All red tag masters cleared and tags pulled. 2 Line up system. General Notes: Communicate with the Mod V Boardman to make sure control valves, instrument air, and transmitters are ready to be lined up. When the OK is given, line up the following: (Refer to the definitions "lining up a control valve" and "lining up a pump"). Note on bleed valves: Ensure that the bleed valves are blinded or plugged when checking they are closed. If not, install a bleed or plug. Use common sense when filling out the checklist, (i.e. before lining up the block valves ensure the bleed are closed.) Note on lining up P-1710 pumps: Check with the board operator to ensure there is enough liquid level in D-1710 to bump the motor on the P-1710 pumps. If there is not, leave the field switch in the "off' position and put a yellow note on the Mod V graphics over the pumps stating the pumps have not been bumped and are in the "off position. Note on remote seal transmitters: Ensure the tubing valve is blocked in and has a plug on it when lining up a remote transmitter valve. Platform above E-1710 Deck E-1710 R-22 vapor PSV's lined up to one side and bleed valves closed. Vent recovery corrosion probe bleed valve closed. Vent recovery corrosion probe upstream B/V lined up. INSIDE CHECKLIST: Step Action Check 1 Vent Recovery Sequence 66 in Step 660. All red tag masters been cleared, control valves and instruments are in auto. System is ready for start up. 2 K-l 100 running. 3 Mod V start up checklist items complete. 4 Vent Recovery Sequence 66 terminated to Step 661. 5 Vent Recovery outside checklist complete. 6 DidOS bump the P-1710 pumps (Yes/No) If no, put a check on the right stating that a note has been placed on the Mod V graphics stating the pumps have not been bumped. If yes, the write N/A in the slot to the right. 7 Make sure that the following AK's and AP's have the correct setpoints. Use Dynamic Data Display (GPI option 18). Choose (9) Vent Recovery, then choose (1) for AK set points and (2) for AP set points. The AK values are only initial guesses. After the initial start up, we will put in ranges for the AK's. AK's AK(602) -E-1710R-22 local flow set point for AO(615). AK(616) - E-1710R-22 level set point for AO(615). AK(618) -D-1710 vent pressure set point for AO(608). Use Dynamic Dowtran and the expanded glossary to guide you through the Mod V portion of the start up. This procedure will only tell you what operations will manually have to do in order to start up the compressor. Step Action 1 Complete both the inside and outside checklists. 2 AK and DM the Mod V to Step 662 and the program automatically establish level, feed and heat up the column. 3 If the P-1710 pumps were not bumped because of low level, they need to be bumped after there is liquid level in D-1710. After bumping, place the field switches in the auto position and remove the note over the pumps on the Mod V graphics. I JJS 7/26/93 VentRecsu.Doc DO 009297 CONFTDFNTTAl
