Quigley SUBJ: Referral to Council Committee on Chemical Safety from the Joint Board-Council Committee on Environmental Improvement REF: (a) STQ memo to the Committee on Environmental Improvement, da20-02LA-74 of 3/29/71* In the discussion of Reference (a) hy the Committee or Environmental Improvement in Executive Session on Sunday, March 31, 197^, the Committee VOTED to review, in the context of technical, environmental and economic considerations, the past and potential Society initiatives in developing offic: al ACL policy relative to the substantive and procedural aspects of setting standards. In pursuit of this objective, the Committee on Environmental Improvement VOTED to seei the opinion of the Council Commit tee on Chemical Safety. It is requested that the Committee on Chemical Safety review the pub lished standards on carcinogens and the forthcoming proposed emergency temporary standard on vinyl chloride. The Committee on Environmental Improvement would appreciate receiving the views of the Committee on Chemical Safety at the Committee's earliest convenience. Thanit you for your cooperation.
