In conversation with the attorneys and doctors In Columbia, South Carolina, It developed that the Hubbard case Is a somewhat awkward one nob from the point of view of the medical record which is quite clear and convincing, but rather from the fact that this Is a jury case within an area where the plaintiff Is popular and where there Is no unusually kindly feeling toward the Standard Oil Company, The boy is apparently honest in his belief that he has received some injury from his obntact with leaded gasoline, After going ovgr the whole situation, all of us were convinced that very complete and adequate medical evidence should be put into the record and that every effort should be made to break down /the opposed medical evidence. The latter, In sy opinion, will BeSvefy flijassy. There Is some reason to believe that some experimental evidence may be presented by expert witnesses for the plaintiff. This point will certainly be very weak evidence* The attorneys feel that I should certainly be present at the trial whether or not I appear In the capacity of an expert witness. It may be desirable that I appear on the stand but this will not be done unless there is good reason to feel that it is desirable or necessaby, I am told that there is reason to believe that an unusually good jury is available.
