If not, please let me know and I'll forward the materia] mentioned in the first letter to you again. Included in my new letter is a clipping concerning the recent hearings held in Windsor by the Ontario Royal Commission on Asbestos. The article related that U.A.W. has submitted over 20 cases to the Compensation Board, but only two claims have been granted. Tommy Dunn was one such claim. The rest of the claims are under appeal. ' There are also new claims being filed. One is for Bob Taylor whose picture is attached to this article. There is also a new claim for an office worker who worked at Bendix. This person almost never had access to the plant. Her case points toward the theory that asbestos was being carried in the ventilation system throughout the plant and office, which was located over the plant itself. Your letter inidcated that you work around the courts. We are extremely interested in this area. Right now six law students have just completed research which we hope to give the union concerning possible legal rememedies beyond compensation. One idea is a possible third party suit launched in the States. SinceBendix headquarters is in Detroit, it would be at least accessable. We also have film footage of a Bendix vice-president admitting that they had not complied with Ontario government request to clean up the plant. These orders were issued in 1966 and in 1970. If you have any information which you think might be important for us to know, we would appreciate it if we could have access to it. Thank for your assistance.
