Squillaro DATE OF CALL: DATE OF REPORT: March 3, 1977 March 7, 1977 DISCUSSION: National Gypsum has made the transition from asbestos-containing to asbestos- free tape joint cement without any major problems. They pre sently are using UCAR 131 but complain of decreasing low tem perature adhesion recovery since last fall. Two major concerns of National Gypsum are latexes with improved bonding efficiency and lower cost ingredients that retain their present tape joint cement properties. As expected, lower cost of raw materials was the most attractive. They are interested in any new latexes developed for tape joint cement and would like to evaluate promising candidates.
