CLARK TO: MEMORANDUM SEPTEMBER 7, 1988 RE: ASBESTOS INSULATION PROCEDURES A recent incident involving the repair of a leaking steam pipe pointed out some confusion regarding our policy regarding asbestos insulation. In order to ensure that each of our employees understand the regulations, I suggest the following action: * Each unit supervisor cover this procedure in one of their September safety meetings. (See R.C. Remaley for a tape that describes the requirements) * Do not attempt any repairs of equipment or piping systems that have asbestos insulation. (Notify Brooks Parker or myself to assist in determining the appropriate action) * Engineering will evaluate the steam piping system and we will decide how to proceed. P.S.
