University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio. I.'y dear Or. Tie hoe: Recently the fidelity and Casualty Insurance Company, T'ew York, reported to this Department a case of injury occurring in the employe of one of their insurers. This disability ?.as reported as having occurred by tho employe "sucking ethyl gasoline through a syphon tube, svallowed some and noisoned stomach1'. I have had some correspondence with the physician attend ing this case. Tie attributes the symptoms to the action of the lead. The Inspection Bureau of this Department is taking this matter up with the employer in order to do away with the necessity for any employe starting a syphon conveying gasoline by means of sucking it. This will probably eliminate any similar occurrence in the future. I have my doubts as to whether the man's injury was lead poisoning, I am sending this report on to you merely for your infor mation and such disposition as you may care to make of it. Very truly yours, . *'7 EB:S Elizabeth B. Bricker, P,,D. Chief, Hygiene and Sanitation Section. l ^ t> <<**
