Dear Dr.'Kehoe:1
Before Jim Boudreau left on his month's trip westward he discussed with me the correspondence between you and Dr. Pottenger, in connect ion with our relationship with the Western Oil and Gas Association in Los Angeles. He directed me to watch for a requested copy of your re ply to the inquiry by Dr. Pottenger, and to write you on receipt of it.
Depending on UOGA to represent us publicly - and to an extent with the oil companies - on smog in California, we want to keep up a regular two-way exchange with them. In view of WOGA's familiarity with the Los Angeles County Medical Association's Smog Committee and its activities, and in view of other factors in the county's current smog situation, it seems likely that Felix Chappellet and Don Sweeney of 170GA have or will become aware of Dr. Pottenger's inquiry.
Regardless of what they may or may not have heard, we would like to have Chappellet and Sweeney be informed of the inquiry, and of your re ply, through us. lie would like them to be assured of receiving iraportand news or information from us early (and of not getting it "second hand" ), and of course we have the general disposition to tell them the company's position on such issues as Dr. Pottenger raises in his in quiry -- issues which already are public to some extent and vhich con ceivably could become more widespread and controversial at anytime.
Jim would like to know your opinion as to what WOGA ought to be told about the correspondence.
Sincerely
