Hi Katie, Thanks for the invitation to attend your completion ceremony for the Moapa Southern Paiute Solar Project. It sounds like a good idea. It is unlikely, at this point in time, that I will be able to attend personally (although it sounds like fun.) I will look to see if we have a representative that would be suitable.
Since we are both in town, I'll look forward to meeting you. Enjoy your visit with Sue Ellen.

Hi Jim,
I hope things are going well for you at the Department and soon you will have a Secretary! And I am going to see Sue-Ellen next week. She is coming to DC to pitch one of my clients.
As you might know, I represent First Solar and they would like to invite you or a representative from the Department to attend a celebration for the completion of the Moapa Southern Paiute Solar Project located at the Moapa River Indian Reservation in Clark County, NV. The date will be either March 16 or 17th and an official invite will come from them in the next week but wanted to give you a heads up.
First Solar developed and constructed the Moapa Southern Paiute Solar Project but it is tribally owned and generates 250 megawatts of solar power the largest solar power project on tribal lands. This solar power facility will supply the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power with electricity under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
The project generated wages and benefits for approximately 400 construction jobs on average, and will provide up to 7 ongoing operation and maintenance jobs. The project provides the community with additional state and local tax revenue, and support for Tribal community and education programs in the form of annual support for the Language and History Symposium, Pow-Wow event sponsorship, holiday donations, and conducting job fairs to promote Tribal hiring.
I also wanted to let you know about any issues or opponents of the project so you could make a decision on whether to attend. Although the Moapa project itself did not have any opponents, I should mention that the Moapa Band of Paiutes, with support of Senator Reid, did oppose the Reid-Garnder coal-fired power plant just down the road from their reservation. The plant was shut down and the second project we are doing with the Tribe is a 100MW solar project, which will begin to replace some of the megawatts from the ReidGardner plant. Didn't know if this might be an issue but wanted you to know.
A little about the company - First Solar is a leading provider of comprehensive photovoltaic (PV) solar energy solutions. Please let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to working with you in the future!
Best, Katie
