THE PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN WHEN MIXING CONCENTRATED ETHYL FLUID (IN LITRE C M S ) WITH PETROL. Ail containers of Ethyl Fluid are labelled to indicate clearly the dangerous nature of the concentrated product. For this reason it is of vital importance that certain definite precautions be taken when handling and/or mixing the concentrated product with petrol. The following precautions must be strictly observed at all times. 1. Rubber gloves must always be worn when handling concentrated Ethyl Fluid. These gloves should be kept clean and in good condition, and should be rinsed well in kerosene or gasoline after each mixing operation. Should the gloves be leaky or spongey they are more dangerous than using no gloves at all. 11. Every precaution should be taken to prevent spillage of the concentrated Ethyl Fluid. If by chance any Fluid should be spilt it must be xirashed off immediately with kerosene or gasoline, and if necessary soap and hot water. 111. If small quantities of Ethyl Fluid are required to be mixed with petrol a cubic centimeter measuring glass must be used and the Fluid measured out accurately. This measuring glass should be rinsed out with kerosene or gasoline after use. IV. The container of concentrated Ethyl Fluid should never be left open for longer than is absolutely necessary. The stopper should he replaced immediately if there is any Fluid left in'the can, and should by any chance tbj concentrated'* Ethyl Fluid have been spilt on the container this should be washed off at once with kerosene or gasoline. I V `. When a litre container of Ethyl Fluid is empty it must immediately be completely destroyed, preferably by burning. VI. Concentrated Ethyl Fluid should be stored as far as possible in a place which is open to the air so as to allow any possiblevapours tobe dissipated immediately. The Fluid of course must be kept in asafe place under lock and key. . VII. A reliable person should be put in charge of the concentrated Fluid and must at all times be personally responsible for the mixing, storing and safe keeping of the Fluid. Epsoiri salts or Seidlitz powders should be taken occasionally.* (c) Do not domonatrato with the Fluid if you aro feeling side for any reason* SPECIAL REGULATIONS APPLYING TO INDIVIDUALS OPERATING DEMONSTRATION ENGINES. 1. The maximum amount of Fluid to be carried for demonstration purposes is four (4) ounces. 2. The container shall be made of metal and have a tight fitting screw top with a rod attached to the screw top. 5. During transportation the container should be carefully packed if not attached to the demonstration unit. 4. During the demonstration, if the Fluid is liable to come in contact with the hands, rubber gloves must be worn. The best type is the surgical type. Any stains of Fluid on the gloves should be removed with petrol followed by soap and water. The gloves must be renewed when they become spongey. 5. Except when actually applying the Fluid to the intake, the container should be kept closed and should be inaccessible to the public. 6. If it is desired to mix fluid with patrol the introduction of the fluid into the petrol should be made with en eye dropper, which must be rinsed and washed out in petrol immediately after it has been used. 7. The screw cap and rod should ha rinsed in petrol frequently. -hen the screw cap shews any stains on the outside, this must be done at once. The top of the container should ba kept clean with petrol. 8. If any Fluid is spilled, it should be washed off immediately vdth a generous supply of petrol followed by soap and water, and any rags ate. used to mop up the Fluid should be destroyed at once. 001343d
