ANNOUNCEMENT Monsanto Monsanto's success in protecting the environment and the safety and health of our employees and communities depends, in part, on our commitment and performance in complying with regulatory and company guidelines. As part of Corporate oversight, the Quality Assurance Section has expanded its role in assuring compliance with regulatory and company policies, guidelines, and practices dealing with Environment, Safety and Health. In order to focus immediately on environmental compliance, Mr. Jeff Klieve, currently Manager, Environmental Affairs for MAC will become Environmental Compliance Director in the Quality Assurance Section, Environment, Safety and Health effective December 1, 1991. Mr. Klieve will be responsible for coordinating the development, implementation, and compilation of audit and training programs for the Corporate Environmental Compliance Assurance Program. He will coordinate with the existing ongoing environmental compliance efforts in the operating companies and seek opportunities to enhance environmental compliance and assure consistency throughout Monsanto. Mr. Klieve joined Monsanto in 1977 at the Dayton facility as a Research Engineer II. In 1980 he was promoted to Environmental Supervisor at the Muscatine plant and then Environmental -More- RD111491--M TOWOLDMONOOQ8593 Superintendent in 1984. In 1987 he became Manager, Environmental Affairs for MAC in St. Louis. Jeff received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering in 1976 from the University of Cincinnati, an M.S. degree in environmental Engineering in 1978 from the University of Illinois, and an M.B.A. degree in 1988 from the University of Iowa. Jeff joins the Corporate department with an excellent record in providing guidance to manufacturing plants which has resulted in exceptional compliance with waste, water, air, and industrial hygiene regulations and corporate guidelines. To assure an orderly transition of responsibilities, he will provide assistance to MAC until a replacement is named. Mr. Klieve will report to me. Quality Assurance with FDA, EPA, TSCA, FIFRA, etc., submissions remains a vital function within Monsanto. The existing Quality Assurance function and staff will also report to me: - Mr. Steven M.
