Existing law prohibits anyone after July 1, 1975 from spraying any substance containing more than 0.5% asbestos'except cold process cutback asphalt roof coatings during construction or aiteration. After July 1, 1976, the law prohibits spraying of any substance containing any amount of asbestos except the indicated asphalt roof coating. ihe Senate bill to amend the code permits spraying of anv sub stance containing asbestos providing no more than 0.5% asbestos is involved. This is essentially a roll back of the law as it was before, ana negates the July 1, 1976, law which would not permit any substance with asbestos to be sprayed except cold process cutback asphalt roof coatings. Neither Cushenbury nor Permanente Plastic cements contain asbes tos. Cushenbury Gun Plastic contains 2.1% asbestos. Peimanente Gun Plastic was dropped from our product line. Currently, tests are being conducted at Process and Control in an effort to find a lubricity substitute for asbestos. D. Sharpe advises we may drop the Cushenbury Gun Plastic as a shelf item if no substitute is found. Prospects are not too encouraging. The scratch coat of plaster is recommended to be one volume of cement and four volumes of sand, the brown coat one and five.
