For example, Choppin has agreed to try to develop some analytical techniques to determine quantities of hydrocarbon In the air. For this reason, I believe EMH Is a better person to handle coordination than JEM. Arrangements have already been made to see that JEM is notified In advance of each sampling so that he can correlate any abnormalities in operations with the sample result. Our contract . allows us 4 samples in RefIntap, 1' sample at Maryland and 1 sample at Anchorage twice'per month. We have modified this, by mutual agreement, to obtain 5 samples In Refining twice a month and a sample at Maryland and Anchorage once per month. 1 believe that 5 sample points In the Refinery Is adequate. The location of the sample point In CFD was established more with an Idea of determining what materials we might be' discharging Into a residential area than with the Idea of determining what materials are drifting Into our property from Ethyl. I suspect CPE's suggested sample points have to do with the latter. I believe that the primary purpose of the study is to obtain data relative to any possible contamination of the air in residential areas from Refinery effluents.
