Dear Mr. Mankedieks
Confirming our telephone conversation of July 12, 1972, con
cerning the incineration of dielectric fluids, we offer a 3#/pound inoineratlon service for Monsanto PCB* fluids delivered to our Sauget, Illinois plant (Dept. 246). The inerteen series
is included in this group. Ve will charge 5^/pound to Incinerate
non-Monaanto fluids containing PCB if sent freight prepaid to our Sauget plant. Fluids containing in excess of 2% water are not acceptable. Also, we cannot handle solids (l.e., sawdust, rags or sludge).
We request the use of return drums that meet DOT W Specifica
tion (55 gallon drums, 18 gauge minimum, 2 bung head; 5 gallon drums, 24 gauge minimum) to prevent leakage. The outside of the return drums should be free of fluid material and free of leaks.
When fluids are ready for return, please contact me at (314)
694-2500 aa to the fluid type, number of drums and any special
invoicing procedure you may require. I will confirm the call by letter and send you the neoessary pre-addressed drum return labels which we are using for this purpose.
The above constitutes the baslo letter that I send to customers wanting to return Inerteen for incineration. To date, our con tacts with customers and their returns have gome smoothly.
The issue of solids disposal (e.g., used capacitors, rags, Insulation, etc.) has oome up on occasion. Our advice in these situations normally la for the customer to contact his local authorities for an approved land fill. We do not have facilities to handle solids disposal.

Your suggestion of Vestlnghouse's establishing a "central control for Morldwide returns of Inerteen for incineration" is interesting. Please keep us advised as you pursue this thought.
Please feel free to oontaot mm If you have additional questions*.
