" -il. , JCS't pi wsuant Us,na<^lk I met with Fred Sabel today to discuss progress on the --Vinyl Chloride Update study. We reviewed the listing compiled by Elsie of the departments included, excluded and questionable. Fred has reviewed some industrial hygiene files and has spoken to several long-term employees and has concluded that none of the excluded departments should be included and of the questionable departments, only the Saran Tank Farm should be included inthe study. Based on notes in the archived vinyl chloride epidemiology files and a conversation with Jerry Ott, it was decided to exclude the work experience in research labs, quality control labs and pilot plants (with the exception of the poly, semi plant). I provided Fred with a list of the building numbers associated with the vinyl chloride departments and with a listing of the job titles sorted by department, first date and last date. He will use these lists to categorize the job titles into low, moderate and high vinyl chloride exposure. The categorization compiled by Ed Schneider and Jerry Ott will be expanded to include previously uncategorized job titles and exposures from 1972-1977. Fred will also be reviewing the list of job titles/departments/dates to categorize the PVC dust exposures. Fred will be contacting other industrial hygienists and retired vinyl chloride employees to complete the categorization. I will be assisting him with any work history information needed.
