Re.: Asbestos Cement Pipe Plant, our ref. EV-2230
Dear Mr. 'weaver:
As agreed upon, a certain amount of equipment and driving motors will be supplied by you. VJe have already submitted to you our proposal about driving motors for kollergang, the 2 turbopulpers and the vacuum plant and you agreed with our suggested data of the driving motors.
In order to enable you to select also other equipment together with the corresponding driving motors we hereby give you a list of a number of components. This list mentions the pertaining mechanical features together with our proposal of the electric motors. We comment as follows:
1. Blower for asbestos dust removal, which shall be installed where the
asbestos will be put. into the bucket elevator leading to the kollergang.
Required air volunne about 50 m3/min. (1770 cuft/min.)
Total head 250 mm water column (10"). O
`J
-. Driving motor:
I One 3-phase NEMA B horizontal squirrel cage motor UUO V, 60_cycles,
I zynchronuous speed 36OO rpm, 7,5 HP, TEFC, ball bearing,
/ continuous duty, GE frame 215, type K.
2. Bucket elevator leading to the kollergang: On this component we suggest type 16 x 6 x 11-3/h Stephens-Adamson elevator, their catalog No. 66 page 96 capacity 12-15 metric tons per hour specific weight of asbestos 0,2 kg/dm' (12,5 lbs/cuft).
Driving motor: fGear motor, other data as before, but 7,5 HP, speed 1800/20 rpm,
[GEjnodel K 25U B 379.
3. Blower for transporting the wet asbestos from the container below the kollergang into the wet asbestos silo capacity of blower about 60 m3/min. (2120 cuft/min.) head about 600 mm water column (25j,8") t5~" eJ Driving motor:
! One 3-phase NEMA B motor as- mentioned under- item--1-but 25 HP, [ 3600 rpm, GE frame 32l+ U, type K.

Please note that the blower has to suck, i.e. the asbestos will be sucked into the cyclone on top of the asbestos silo where the air will be released into the open. The blower sucks this air and presses it through the filter into the open.
Filter: For this component any open hose-type filter can be used which is commercially available. It should be suitable for a volumne of about 60 m^/min. (2120 cuft/min.). It shall, however, be noted when ordering this filter that the blower air could contain wet asbestos particles. The filter should therefore not be clogged. The moisture content of the asbestos can be calculated from the mixture which is 500 kg (1100 lbs) asbestos with about 80 - 100 liters (21-26,5 US gallons.) Should a self cleaning filter not be available the air of course can be blown directly into the open without using any filter at all.
U. Belt conveyor for the transport of asbestos from the asbestos silo to the belt cycle capacity about 100 kg/min. (227 lbs/min) asbestos specific weight 0,25 kg/dm3 (15,6 lbs/cuft) distance between both axles of belt conveyor about U?60 mm (187,5")' 5 inclination 36 rising. From Stephens Adamson Co., Bulletin 760, we propose the type 18" of series 71+5.
The driving motor should be a gear motor with about 2 HP nominal rating. The catalog of Stephens-Adamson coes not give sufficient information about the selection of such gear motors. However we believe that you could obtain the necessary data from this company when you will order the conveyor, preferably incl. motor. When driving the belt conveyor it will not be necessary to arrange for a speed regulating reducer.
J.K. Voith will prepara a drawing which will show the necessary dimensions for the connecting points of the belt conveyor.
5. Redlers for the transport of cement and silica from the silos to the belt scales: each redler should have a capacity of 300-li00 kg/min. (660 - 880 lbs/min) each redler should have a axle distance of about 8000 mm (3lU") From the Stephens-Adamson catalog bulletin 161 we propose the redler type 7" - "L", with a speed of 50 ft/min. A gear motor normally drives such a redler over chain and sprocket. We regret that the Stephens-Adamson catalog does not give sufficient information for the selection of the driving motor for the redler. We however believe that the necessary data could be given to you by the Stephens-Adamson Company. It is not necessary to arrange for a speed regulating reducer.
J.M. Voith will prepare a drawing which shows the connecting dimensions for the belt scales.

6. Pressure water pumps for the pipe machine: 2 pumps will be necessary, one pump as a spare. Pump capacity each about 600 liters/min. (1*22 gpm) arainst a head of 6 - 7 atue (83-100 psig). One driving motor will have about 37 HP at 3600 rpm synchronuous speed.
To obtain the exact motor size please contact the company which would also deliver the pumps to you.
All the above listed data are our suggestions as to the layout of the machinery. Please check especially the driving motors and give us your confirmation so that we may proceed accordingly. Should you come forth with some different ideas please notify us also at your earliest convenience. On all motors which we could not select in detail please give us the necessary data on size and ratings.
Sincerely yours.
