In the new chemical plunt of the Barrett Division, Allied Chemical and Dye Corporation in Chicago, Illinois, shown above, the Elliott 2500-hp, 3600-rpm, 2300-volt, dripproof-protected, squirrel-cage induction motor, shown at left, drives a centrifugal compressor. An unusually heavy motor, it is equipped with heavy lifting lugs. The other side of the motor is open and equipped with filters. Motor operation has been very satisfactory with a minimum of maintenance required.
