Job No. 807 - Mercury Recovery From Waste Hater - (Savings - $10,000 est.) Pilot test underway to determine efficiency of recovering Mercury from Mercury salts in a 5 ppm Hg waste water stream. Waste water, comprised of end box and pump tank overflows, is passed up through a column packed with iron (or zinc). Iron (or zinc) replaces the Mervury in the salt leaving an amalgam of pure Mercury with the iron (or zinc) remaining in the column. The first phase of test program is complete. First phase results will show feasibility and optimum locatiqn of the following variables: contact time-flow of Mercury (based on concentration) per unit of packing weight; and the pH range. Second phase of test will be designed to set precisely the pH and contact time. Second phase to be completed by 6/1.
