Edwards Environmental Health B--101 AIRBORNE ASBESTOS EXPOSURE Regarding your request that we re-test three (3) contractor employees for airborne asbestos exposure. Normally our contractor employees would not be exposed to asbestos. During the time the survey in question was being conducted# we were having problems with the fluffer machine used to charge asbestos into our drawing system. Air sampling showed that method to be unsatisfac tory. Asbestos was also being sucked into the big compressor. We have since removed the fluffer hardware and installed a wet slurry system which affords a much cleaner operation. We will be running tests on our drawing vat crew to see how much im provement the wet system has made. So you see, we will not be able to re-test the three contractors under the same conditions because the fluffer equipment has all been removed, even the compressor is running clean. Harry, you have been most helpful in keeping our asbestos procedures constantly improving. We are committed to checking every new or re vised operation and frequently re-checking the old ones.
