CHARLES W. VAN VLACK Vice President Secretary

Dr. Ralph S. Cunningham President Tenneco Oil Processing & Marketing Tenneco Building P. O. Box 2511 Houston, TX 77001
Dear Ralph:
This will acknowledge our receipt of your letter of June 23 to Gary Herrman wherein you indicated that Tenneco Polymers would not be renewing its CMA membership. Although we were aware that Tenneco had sold this business to Occidental, we were unsure of what other chemical interests you may have retained. Therefore, we had kept you on our membership roster, pending your response to the annual dues invoice.
While recognizing the continually changing nature of the chemical in dustry and the need for companies to adjust and realign their business activities, the Association will sincerely miss Tenneco Polymers as a member and you personally as a Director. Your collective contributions have been substantial during the time of your participation in CMA.
I wish you every success in the years ahead, and if I or anyone else can every be of any service, please don't hesitate to call upon us.

Dear Gary:
Earlier in my letter of May 2, 1986 to George Sella, I mentioned that Tenneco had sold its Polymers business to Occidental Chemical. For that reason, we will not be renewing our membership in the CMA.
Very truly yours
