Swim Skelly Oil Company Insurance Department Tulsa, Oklahoma Dear Mr. Swlmt** ; I am sendlog you under separate cover certain articles which deal with the clinical and experimental observa tions made to determine . whether or not there Is any hazard to the health of workmen from exposure to gasoline containing tetraethyl lead. This subject has been investigated quite extensively not only by myself and my associates in this laboratory but also by the United States Public Health Service and the British Ministry of Health* All of the experimental work has been in agreement In that no evidence has ever been found that persons engaged In handling leaded gasoline have suffered any ill health as a consequence of lead absorption or that, in fact, they have absorbed any lead at all as a consequence of their exposure* There is quite an extensive literature covering these studies, and the technical points at Issue are somewhat Involved and are not always clear In their application in cases of this type. Accordingly I should be very glad to give you every possible assistance in the preparation of this case and I shall hold myself in readiness to examine Carefully any and all Information which you send me, and to give you my prompt opinion as to the merits and also as to the difficulties of tie case . There will be no charge for my services in this connection since as the chief medical advisor of the Ethyl Gasoline Corporation, X should be pleased to assist you In every possible way in arriving at the correct solution of this case* As a matter of fact I have a gentleman*s agreement with the United States Publie health Service to investigate all cases of this sort and to report to them the facts and the circumstances connected with them* Therefore I should like to fee fully informed as to th details of the case. Very truly yours, RAK jis Rofeert A* fiofeoe, 1 The article indicated as Part 1 in th title must be returned to me as soon as you have finished with it, since my supply of these reprints is exhausted.
