The Trump administration announced yesterday an investigation into Chinese actions to coerce the transfer of intellectual property from American companies and individuals, as well as steal it outright. There is a long way to go on this issue, and many mistakes can still be made. But the president's order is a good initial response to predatory Chinese economic policies -- and one that is entirely consistent with conservative principles of free trade.
