Kehoe The Kettering Laboratory University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Eden Avenue Cincinnati 19, Ohio Dear Dr. Kehoe: I had a meeting with Mr. John Nordyke of Hammond Lead Products, Monday of this week. We were com paring the results on the cups exchanged by you and Pittsburgh Testing Laboratory and noted that there was still a discrepancy in that the Pittsburgh Testing Lab got consistently lower values than you did. Consequently, we would like to have another set of samples checked by both your laboratory and Pittsburgh Testing Laboratory. Within the next four or five days you should receive six white glazed cups from The Hall China Company and six red glazed cups from the Homer Laughlin China Company. We will appreciate your checking o f .the lead solubility of these two sets of cups and billing Lead Industries Association and the United States Potters Association as in the past. Like samples are being sent to Pittsburgh Testing Laboratory also. I sincerely hope there will be agreement on these two sets of samples, so we will be able to inform the members in our industry that Pittsburgh Testing Laboratory has been 0. Ked to run the tests. K F 0006003 THE HALL CHINA COMPANY Dr. Robert A. Kehoe -2 8/8/63 I have not forgotten your Hellige Comparator. It has been a struggle to get someone to make the kit for us, since the sales potential is rather limited. However, the Hellige Company has shown interest and I should have it set up in a couple more weeks and I will see that you get your comparator back. We will appreciate your expediting the tests on the cups as much as possible, as we would like to get the testing set up arranged by the first week of September if possible. We hope to have A. S. T. M. approval on the dithizone test method as a tentative standard by the latter part of September when C-21 committee has their fall meeting. BWM/M Yoursvery truly V B. W.
