Australian Blue Asbestos Mins - Wittenoa* Gorge*
In company with Inspector ideas and Workmen's Inspect hunter an inspection of the abore mine was made on the 10th September followed by a ventilation end dust aurvey of the underground workings and surface arrangements.
UNDERGROUND
3lnoe ray previous visit ih February lest the general ventilation of the mine has furthers improved but with regard to ventilation of dead ends a furthafc. requsat had to ba made for venturi's to oe suspended instead "of lying on the floor or broken dirt. as evidence of this faulty preotiee a dust sample* taken in 7 Right wnere bogging operations were in pro-
frees, registered s 1000 fr while the temperature reocrded >0 - 80W.
During the progress of the survey the main fan had to be stopped et least three times due to e fault in the power lines causing over heating of the motor, nevertheless the air meas urements revealed e greater volume entering end leaving the mine since lest survey.
Following completion of aeaeuremeut of malnialr currents, four sample* of sir containing exnaust gases from the Diesel looomotlve were obtained together with measurement oj air dis charge from venturi.
AIR MEASUREMENT.
For the purpose of comparison I have quoted the volumes and temperatures reoorded at last survey, In braokete.

Apart from the feot that veoturi'e are being used improperly, the secondary ventilation of development ends was found to be satisfactory, all such ends being ventilated per medium of eleotric mill exhuuat fans.
Kith regard to sampling of air containing azhauat gases from tbs Diesel, two of these were obtained in a devel opment end under normal working conditions, namely two journeys,
firstly to take out the full truck and a return with empty.

Tli# third sample was obtainad at tbs point of an air
regulator through which the driver had been specially requested to operate for purpose of obtaining same immediately the loop passed through*
The fourth sample was taken in the sain return airway from fan.
Aa a result cf the analysis it is very gratifying to report that no CO was found to be pretest and do aot indicate any appreoiable vitiation of the air bjr the produots of oombustloa of diesel engine*

Prior to lscving the sins, I was approached by the Engineer with a request for information relative to neaeuremeot of air plow Into the various dudes of the exhausting system as he had no means of measuring same*
