BULLETIN No. Q7o under brakes ftIN ItO IN U S A TRAILER HAND BRAKE CONTROL VALVE (All Chassis So-equipped) PURPOSE To caution field subject control valve is not to be used as a parking brake control. INFORMATION Reports received indicate attempts have been made to utilize the trailer hand brake control valve as a unit parking brake control. This control valve is designed to activate the trailer brakes independently of the chassis brakes. The control valve provides a finely graduated means of applying and releasing the brakes and, therefore, does not contain detents or lock positions to hold brakes in ''ON" position; however, when control valve is new, there is a possibility the control will remain in the "ON" position due to the friction drag on the new parts. This is a false setting and will dis appear as the control valve wears in. To stress the fact this con trol valve is not to be used as a parking brake control, "NOT FOR PARKING" is embossed on top of control handle. RE COMMENDATION Advise all concerned of this bulletin on proper operation of trailer hand brake control valve.
