History Hie VCM SA was organized in 1970 recognizing a need to reduce the number of accidents, and build on a nucber of meetings convened after major accidents such as the Hionpscn disaster. During the 1970's, 18 meetings teie held. In the middle of this period the group became involved in OSHA and EPA issues and meetings were held every six months. Hie frequency has since been reduced to cnce per y^r. In 1970, there were 23 members, now 46. Six of the original ocnpanies have left the field. Hie organization has been successful because of dedicated people and the support of their ocnpanies. Hie meetings have played a major role in accident prevention. Organizational Structure Hie Executive Committee consists of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and Program Chairman. All except the Secretary and Treasurer are elected annually.
