They didn't develop quantitative data in the 1978-79 passive dosimetry studies, but they use a general guideline of 5 days maximum in a refrigerator. I think this is what most people would agree with based on the concerns for sample loss of volatile hydrocarbons. 3M or C-TEK may have a specific recommendation also. Grumbles December 2, 1988 PROGRESS REPORT Below is a summary of the Biomedical and Environmental Affairs Department's activities for the last two weeks. 1. Comments were submitted to the State of Washington on a proposed tax on hazardous substances that could affect LAS. 2. The CLER Communications Committee met to prepare for a presentation to CEFIC/ECOSOL on use of contractors to track developments on LAB/LAS. CLER has proposed to ECOSOL that some contract work be shared. 3. The Environmental Careers Team is finalizing its report. 4. The Environmental annual meeting was scheduled for April 27-28 in San Antonio. 5. Data was obtained from EPA on emissions of vinyl chloride from ) all PVC and VCM plants in the country. A report is being developed. 6. Provided SARA Section 313 emissions data to the contractor preparing a wastewater analysis plan for the LCCC. 7. The National Toxicology Program (NTP) has recently completed short term toxicology studies on sodium xylene sulfonate. They will soon be evaluating the results and have asked industry to provide them with relevant information so a sound decision can be made on whether additional studies are needed. We have contacted Dr. Irwin of NTP and offered to provide them with data. A copy of the short term study has been requested. 8. Reviewed the input data for the new bill of lading program and made necessary changes. A December 15 target data has been set up for completion of this project. 9. Provided DOT shipping information to LCCP for a shipment of 100 drums of spent nickel catalyst. 10. All new ethoxylate labels have been completed and input into the label data base. V\/v 000o^l6 11. Participated with Legal in providing Product Liability Awareness Training at the LCCP. Two sessions were given to approximately 60 people. 12.
