Chug! Chug! Chug! Perhaps the Xoise Commis.<1ion got after the nois~
motor boats which disturb the peace and quiet ( !) of many lake resorts.
~.\t any rate, J. E. Banfield, builder of Banfield Sea Skiffs, is now using immlating board to line the engine box with the idea of quieting the roar of the powerful motors used in his famous hoah1.
The ever increaro.ing' popularit~ of the motor boat for summer vacationers, indicates a large market for aslK>'>tos materials which are or might be used b~ boat builders. Pulmonary Albeltoata.
Some attention j5 being ghen b~ the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics of the Department of Labor, to Pulmonary Asbesto11is, a disease re1mlting from exposure to asbestos du!it. The Bureau urges the establishment of efficient exhaust system" and the introduction of other Mfety methods.
This diKease has been uoted in En1rland, and much ha11 been written concerning it but this is the first time, to our knowledge, that it has been officially discussed in this country.
The statement of the Bureau of Labor Statistics refers to an article published in the Bulletin of Hygiene, London, in December, ghing tht> results of a study of the clinical and radiological record of 15 eases of pulmonar~ asbestosis occurring among workers in an asbti, tos factory.
It is said that the ashe,.,tos dust eauses a pulmonary fibro!oois, attaekinir the bases of the lunirs, and, like ..,jlicosis, it is fre11nentl~ complicated b~ tuberculosis.
