It seems perfectly obvious that Mr. Lewis had a case of splenic leukemia, and you are already familiar with my feeling as to the possibility of any relationship existing between this condition and exposure to gasoline either of the ordinary type or Ethyl.Gasoline. These conditions have been described and known for many years. The cause back of them is entirely unknown. It has never been associated with chemical poisoning of any kind so far as I know, and to attribute it to either lead or gasoline is to make the wildest kind of guess. I am sending you also a copy of the " letter which Mr* Feillngham of the Standard Oil Gompany (Indiana) sent to me in'reply to my query on the status of the McCarn case.
