Barrett DATE Sept. 4, 1979 'CDB-252-79 SUBJECT: REQUESTED PILOT STUDY FOR DEVELOPING HISTORICAL WORK HISTORY INFORMATION In implementing the current health monitoring or medical surveillance system, it is essential that we develop certain past or historical work history information on our employees. As you are aware a pilot study was conducted in the Pampa Plant in 1977 to .determine the feasibility of developing this past imformation. Based on the Pampa pilot study we concluded that the necessary information could be obtained, partially, from the existing personnel records, and partially, by relying on a local committee composed of long term supervisory employees. In recent months we have been working closley with our consultant Dr. Irv Tabershaw, in identifying the historical information that we need to develop on our employees. Our project team recently agreed that the best approach for developing this information would be to request one of the Chemical Company Plants to proceed in developing this information on a pilot basis. Once the information is developed for one plant the other plants could then benefit fromfe the experience and proceed in developing the information for their location.-. TeeProject Team believes that the Bay City Plant would be the best choice for developing the necessary historical information on a pilot basis. I would like to meet witfvyou along with other members of our Project Team on September 14, to further discuss this request. The meeting should take approximately two hours. I would suggest including in the meeting each of those from Bay City copied on this memo. Mr. Mark Stenzel will be forwarding to you, well in advance of the meeting, a detailed description of the information to be developed &the sequence for developing the information. Hopefully, this will be helpful in preparing for the meeting. Please let Bob Swanbeck orme know if the 14 will be a convenient date. If not, hopefully we can schedule another date in September.
