It is built from high-grade materials most of which are drawn from the Company's mines and chemical factories. TRADE SALES DP PONT PREPARED PAINT.--This is an exceptionally highgrade, first quality, scientifically prepared paint for all painting pur poses and especially for painting the best classes of houses where a beautiful protective coating is desired. The paint is made full body which insures a dense covering or "hiding" power. The quality represents true economy combined with extreme durability. The paint is free from internal chemical action. No expense is spared to obtain the best materials from which to prepare this paint, and chemical and phy sical laboratories are maintained to keep raw materials and finished products up to standard. This paint is composed of basic carbonate white lead, zinc oxide, a small proportion of reinforcing inert pigments, linseed oil and drier. It will cover from SoO to 400 square feet to the gallon, two coats. There are 30 standard colors in addition to inside fiat and gloss whites, outside white, and black. The enamels are free-flowing enamels of the very highest quality L'reatlv superior to antomohile and carriace paints. The proper around coats or undercoats neivssary to lav a proper foundation for the best automobile finish are prepared fur these colors. They produce not only beautiful but durable finishes and add much to the appearance and to the resale value of the automobile. ALTO EN AMEL.--This is a high-grade auto enamel for renewing the finish on used cars. Superior to ordinary auto and carriage paint. Composed of zinc oxide and tinting material in a varnish vehicle. Made in six colors and black. One quart will cover the surface of an automobile. Dir e c t io n s .--When the surface is in good condition and it is desired simply to freshen the appearance of the colors, proceed as follows: Clean off thoroughly the dust, dirt and grease. Brush the surface with a stiff brush or rub with a cloth, using benzine or tur pentine to cut the grease and the dirt. Sandpaper lightly to cut the high gloss, then apply one or two coats of Auto Enamel of the shade desired. If an exceptionally high finish is desired, a coat of Clear Finish should be used for the last coat. When the color is to la- changed or the surface is in had condition, sja-cial attention is required. After cleaning off all foreign matter, sandpaper carefully to break off loose particles and to smooth up the rough places where the paint is cracked. Farts where the paint has chip[>ed off should be primed with Ground Coat. Deep cracks and dents should be filled with Filler and Surfaccr as it comes from the can, knifed on smooth. Allow this to dry at least eight hours, then sandpaper off level. Thin some Filler and Surfacer w ith tur|>entme to a brushing consistency. Apply one or more coats as may be necessary to fill small cracks and dents. Brush each coat across the preceding coat, eight hours apart, and sandpaper each coat smooth with fine sandpaper. Then apply one or two coats of Ground Coat, using the color indicated as the necessary undercoating for the final coat of Enamel. SandpajH-r liehtly between coats. One quart will cover the surface of an automobile, one coat. KAMI' ENAMEL.-- This is a high-grade hlack enamel producing an eggshell finish. On account of its heat resisting pro|>erties it is es[>ecia!ly adaptable for finishing lamps and other metal parts. It is rustproof and stands hard wear. One half-pint will cover four average lamps. FENDER ENAMEL.--It is used on fenders and similar metal parts. It produces a jet hlack finish with a high gloss. It is rustproof, durable, easily applied and dries quickly. One quart is sufficient for an automo bile. Before applying clean the surface so tliat it is smooth and dry. Apply with a varnish brush in a warm temperature. L se pure turpen tine if thinning is necessary. TOI' RENEWER.--This is an application for restoring mohair, leather and Fabrikoid tops to their original freshness. It dries with a deep hlack finish and makes tops waterproof. It should not be used on rubber tops. One pint will cover a top, one coat. SEAT DRESSING.--This is prepared especially to preserve leather and Fabrikoid cushions and upholstery. Keeps them soft and pliable. Dries quickly ami will not rub off on the clothing. One quart will cover Hj square feet, one coat. Before applying clean the surface thoroughly, using gasoline to remove oil and grease. Apply with a soft varnish brush. Allow at least an hour to dry before using. If necessary to thin use banana oil (amyl acetate). , FILLER AND Sl'RFACER.--This is a filler and surfacer to use in filling cracks and dents. It gives a smooth foundation for the ground coat and for the enamel. CLEAR FINISH - This is a high-grade varnish for finishing gears and Ixxiies. It is used on both interior and exterior surfaces of buildings of every description. It is not intended for concrete floors, for which purpose Floor and Dt'ck Faint is recommended. When used on cement and concrete it gives a soft eggshell finish winch effec tively seals the pores preventing ram ami water penetration. At the same time Cement and Stucco Coating preserves the texture and individuality of the concrete. Because of the specially constructed vehicle, it works freely and eas'dv under the brush, will not show laps, ft*: and dries over night to an eggshell finish. It is composed of basicsulfate white lead, zinc oxide, calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, magnesium silicates and tinting materials in a varnish vehicle. Dir e c t io n s .--The surface to he coated must be dean and free from any loose or scaling material. Shake the can well before opening, then stir the contents thoroughly to a uniform consistency and apply with a flat wall brush, flowing it on freely. The paint w ill appear heavy in the package, hut it is of just the proper con sistency for all work, except as noted below. It must not l>e applied in wet weather or after a storm while the surface is still wet. Aeir If'orC-- Wire brush the surface thoroughly to remove any loose particles of cement, sand or lime. Dust it off. then apply Cement and Stucco Coating as it comes in the can. ( 7ipainted Surface*.-- Old unpainted structural cement or bridge work, or work previously whitewashed or calcimined, should be thoroughly washed to remove all of the whitewash or calcimine. Any loose scaling particles should be scraped off and the surface then wire brushed. For the first coat thin Cement and Stucco k uatmg with about 5% of pure turpentine and 20% of raw linseed oil, depending on tile porosity of the surface. All other coats, how ever. must be used as received m the package. (Jld Pantted Suriancs.--Remove all loose or sealing particles by scraping or wire brushing. If the surface is then in a good, firm condition, not hard or flinty, the paint should he applied as it is found in the package. If the surface is soft or chalky, linseed oii and turpentine should be added in the same manner, as noted in preceding paragraph. It is suitable for use ou interior and exterior work on wood or metal surfaces, such as woodwork, furniture, radiators, porch chairs and household articles. The darker shades may be used on radiators but the lighter shades are not suitable for high temperatures. It will not become soft and tacky nor stick to the clothing. Dir e c t io n s .--Shake and stir contents very thoroughly before using. The sur face must be clean, dry and free from dust, dirt and grease. Temperature when applied should be as near 70 F. as possible. Apply a thin coat uniformly over the whole surface with a good varnish brush. Film has good hardness, good gloss, but poor elasticity. BLACK BAKING DI LL RUBBER FINISH.--This material is used when a rubber finish is desired on metal. May be thinned with benzine one-third for spraying or dipping consistency. It is also us*d for a first coater when a brilliant gloss finish is desired. It will add density and depth to the finished product. Should be baked for three hours at 300 F. BRASS LAMP BLACK VELVET BAKING.--It was brought out some years ago when automobile lamps, horns and small parts were made of brass and when it was difficult to obtain a black that would cover and adhere perfectly in one coat. This was accomplished by this product and the critical trade recognized it as a superior article. It bakes perfectly at from 250 to 275 F. in from two to three hours. One reason why it has been popular is that it did not require as high a temjKTature as some of the cheaper grades of black. For spraying it is very satisfactory and requires very little reducing, which on fine articles should be done with turpentine rather than with naphtha. For brushing it is ready to use as shipped and will brush free from brush marks and cover perfectly. BRASS LAMP HIGH GLOSS BLACK BAKING--This is also a linking grade of japan with which the l>est results may l>e obtained at a eompartively low heat-- 25!) to 275C F. There is a product for each type of surface and for the many purposes for which marine paints are desired. This includes priming coats fur steel hulls, paints for topsides, water line, decks, cabins, ventilators and similar parts, also stains, fillers, varnishes and enamels for interior work. Each product in the line has l>een formulated with the view of giving the most durable and satisfactory coating, to withstand the severe exposure to salt water and to moist, salt air. The paints and varnishes in this line are adapted for ocean-going liners and freighters, tugs, barges, sailing vessels and the smaller pleasure craft. The application of Du Pont Marine Paints will protect an investment and permit the full use of any water craft without undue sacrifice of time in application. HULL k SUPERSTRUCTURE PAINT--This is a hard-drying, high-gloss paint suitable for either steel or wooden hulls and super structure, such as deck houses, derricks, davits, cargo holds, boiler and engine room casings and similar work. It is especially formulated for the purpose and withstands severe sea exposure to a remarkable degree. This paint is ready for use and is particularly desirable where time in application is a factor. No mixing, other than the usual stirring, is required before application. The covering capacity of Hull and Structural Paint is 330 to 400 square feet to the gallon, two coats. Hull and Structural Paint is made in a number of colors, as shown by color chips. mi that a harmonious color combination may be worked out. DECK PAINT.--This is a durable, elastic coating for wood, steel or canvas decks. It is resistant to the action of salt water and permanent in color. Furnished in light lead, dark Toad, dust color, spruce and maroon as indicated by color chips. Supplied in quart, half-gallon, gallon and 5 gallon cams, half-barrels and barrels. Will cover approximately 275 square feet to the gallon, two coats. NO. 2 READY MIXED RED LEAD PAINT.--This is a ready-for- use red lead used as a priming coat on all metal work, except steel hulls, where Anti-Corrosive Paint should be used. This product is so formu lated that the pigments will stay in suspension for an indefinite period, thus eliminating the difficulty usually associated with paints of this type. Covering capacity 600 square feet to the gallon, one coat. ]' Supplied in 5 gallon cans, half-barrels and barrels. ANTI-CORROSIVE PAINT.--It is a quick-drying paint used as a first or priming coat on metal ship bottoms. It prevents pitting or corrosion and is recommended as a priming or foundation coat over which Anti-Fouling Ship Bottom Paint is applied. This product should be used in preference to red lead on metal hulls. Will cover approximately 500 square feet to the gallon, one coat. i Supplied in gallon and 5 gallon cans, half-barrels and barrels. ANTI-FOI LING SHIP BOTTOM PAINT.--It is a paint of high toxic properties so designed that the barnacles and other kinds of sea life w hich try to attach themselves to the ship are killed and fall away w ith the friction of the water, thus keeping the bottom clean at all times. Should lie applied over an undercoat ot Anti-Corrosive Paint or red lead. The former is preferable. I * Supplied in red, brown, green and gray as indicated by color chips.
