Mr Faber presented Danone's One Planet Business for Biodiversity (op2b) coalition, as well as Danone's EU Call to Action for a Common Food Policy 2020-2024 On op2b, Mr Faber explained that the coalition brings together forward-thinking, agriculture-centric companies to propose solutions that can help transform the food and agriculture systems. The coalition consists of 19 international cross-sectorial, action-oriented business members representing the entire value chain from the food, textile, and personal care sectors. It was launched within French President Macron's One Planet Lab framework and is led by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) along with Emmanuel Faber. As regards Danone's call for action, he explained that this unprecedented crisis has shone a spotlight on the food supply chain, which has proved so far to be efficient. The EU needs to maintain that efficiency to secure continued availability and affordability of nutritious food for all. In that context, it is necessary to take a longer view and build the transition towards a more resilient and inclusive food system, as a foundation of a true food sovereignty for the EU. He stressed that and EU Common Food Policy is an essential part of securing Europe's longer-term resilience and will bring long-term benefits to the broader economy. The Commissioner welcomed Danone's commitments and projects. He also presented the Biodiversity Strategy and the Farm to Fork Strategy, which had been adopted earlier this year. Discussions also focused on the importance of healthy soil for agriculture, biodiversity and the fight against climate change; as well as the challenge of growing water scarcity.
