It was published in the Federal Register, Vol, 37, No. 110 June 7, 1972. A brief review of some of its essential provisions are: 1. Sets allowable concentration of asbestos dust in air as 5 fibers/cc of air, until July 1976 when the limit will be lowered to 2 fibers/cc of air. isT-n-- - 2. All potential asbestos exposures most be evaluated by December 7, 1972 using specific techniques for collecting and counting air samples. 3. Employees exposed to asbestos dust must receive physical examinations which include chest x-rays and measurements of respiratory function (spxroaetrie measurements). We may be able to assist you in evaluating your asbestos exposures in order to meet the current standard requirements and those where you must be in compliance by July 1976. We have organised a team of specialists who are available to visit your plant or area with a mobile laboratory. This team includes an industrial hygienist, laboratory technician, and industrial health consultant. These professionals are prepared to provide the following services: 1. Acquaint you with the rules and regulations of the Depart ment of Labor Standard relating to asbestos. 2.
