Eehoe director, Lettering Laboratory Cincinnati, Ohio, Lear Doctor: Since I saw_.you only very briefly at Rochester at the Annual Meeting, 1 did not get an opportunity to discuss with you, ajs I did with several other Lirectors present there, the 1944 meeting, Even prior to the Rochester meeting I had done some ground work with the view of having the Board elect St. Louis p.s the 1944 host city, and since then, have done some more thinking oh the same subject. At every hand I have met encouragement and I believe that Industrial Medicine in this locality needs, more than anything else, the impetus which an annualjmeetion of the Association and its affiliate groups would bring. Our Industrial Hygiene group here is an active one and our Industrial Nurses Club is about to petition the national organisation. Both of our Class A medical schools would give us a good clinical programson consecutive mornings. Several new industries and plants v;ould afford some of the practical aspects. Since the program of papers is not made up from tal ent of the host city alone, this could be what we desired to have it. In 1944 it will be the midwest's turn to entertain and an unsuccessful bid was made for the 1942 meeting at Pitts burgh bjut you folks in Cincinnati beat us to it. Hotel and entertainment facilities in St. Louis would compare with the best. A piece of missionary v;ork could be done here since the relatively lethargic position of industrial medicine could be converted into an enthuasiastic situation. Ihere are few Mem bers hepe and fewer Fellows, but you may be sure that we can give a ood accounting. I have discussed this uroposed selection of St, Louis in 1944 with both Lr, Bartle and Lr, Holmblad as well as many of the Directors and I understand that St. Louis rates high. I have offered to do anything that i might do further and, while it will; be a few months before the decision is made regarding the 1944 meeting, I have always believed in an early start.
