February 5, 1970 Dear Sir: % Ve request your approval to conduct dust count tests at Pipe Shop Department No. 56, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Norfolk^ Virginia. The purpose of these tests is to show the difference in air born dust of a Lint-Controlled Asbestos Cloth and Amosite Felt. Tests have previously been conducted on untreated material and this will provide a meaningful comparison showing the prevailing dust in each situation. The Medical Hygiene Department at Norfolk has conducted tests on untreated material and we propose to test in conjunction with their staff, duplicating the exact conditions and method of testing. Attached is our proposed method of testing, subject to their approval and the material for testing is in stock at Norfolk.
