PRIMARY SKIN IRRITATION AND SENSITIZATION TESTS ON GUINEA PIGS
Procedure; A range-finding study was conducted with 3 male albino guinea pigs to test tation potential. A 20% solution of the test material in water was the highest conce
to the skin irritation potential of the glacial acetic acid solvent. No skin irritatio
at this level.+
The primary irritation test was conducted on 10 unexposed guinea pigs by applying
rubbing in 0.05 ml each of a 20% and a 2% (v/v) solution of the test material in water
shoulder skin.
The induction phase for sensitization was a series of 4 sacral intradexmal inject a 1.0% solution in physiological saline. 1 each week beginning 2 d'.ys after the test f tation.
After a 13-day rest period, the test animals were challenged for sensitization by lightly rubbing in 0.05 ml each of a 20% and a 2% (v/v) solution of teat material in w intact shoulder akin. At the same time 10 unexposed guinea pigs (controls) of the sam identical topical applications.
