The expanded metal faces of the cell are ' permanent. One face is easily removed. A new filtering element, consisting of a fabricated pad of vegetable fibers, replaces the dirty pad. This means approximately a 50 per cent saving in the cost of replacing filters. The viscous treated dust pad comes in intimate contact with filter cell racks. This not only increases the filtering area, but prevents dust and soot from sifting around edges of filter ceil. TECHNICAL DATA The efficiency and resistance curves were plotted from tests conducted by the E. Vernon Hill Co., Chicago, III. Instead of using a mixture of dust containing lint and coarser particles, two standard substances were used.
