Mr. A. E. Mittnachfc, Ethyl Gasoline Corp., 25 Broadway, . New York City.

Dear Mr. Mlttnacht:
The following letter contains a number
of matters which I wish to bring to your attention for
what they are worth. Dr. Crudgington has just returned
from a trip into the southwest and he has reported one
or two things which may be of some consequence to you.
He has stated that in a number of places in Texas the
Humble Oil Company in dispensing Ethyl Gasoline is mak
ing use of a pump which has no ETHYL sign on it at all,
and which has the metal sign showing that it contains
lead on the back side of the pump in such a way that
it is not seen by the public except as one looks for it.
You may be aware of the former item, but it occurred to
me that if you were not aware of it it might be a matter
of some importance to you.
i
He also reports that in the case of the Imperial Oil Refining Company at Ardmore no mixing of Ethyl Gasoline has been carried out as yet. However, the Company is selling a red gasoline* On questioning the attendants at one or two filling stations as to
whether their gasolinb was Ethyl Gasoline they stated that it was the same thing. They were not sure whether it did or did not contain lead* This may be a matter of no consequence and it does not represent any very great range of observation but I simply report it in ease it may be of some importance to you.
In the matter of Artesia, New Mexico, all mixing at this point has been discontinued. The equipment is to be disposed of by Mr. Durham.
Very truly yours,
