You will be Interested in knowing the state of pro gress of our work in connection with the investigation. We are working as rapidly as possible in getting together the data and in making careful study of it. We have finished our tabulation of data from the original cards, and have sent these on to Dr. Leake for his additional study. Thus he will not be delayed in arriving at his own conclusions, and his opinions.and the re sults of his study should be available almost as soon as our own. In addition to this we have sent to him duplicate blood smears and a fair number of samples for check analysis, so that after going over all these matters he will be very well informed not only as to all the results obtained but as to whether the methods are such as he can approve of and recommend. We were delayed somewhat in getting the last group of samples from the positive control cases here in Cincinnati so that it will take the balance of this week to complete enough of these for comparisons with our other groups. All of the other data in the case of these men is tabulated, however, and this will not delay us greatly. If we were to entirely finish this group of almost one hundred cases our report would be de layed for about three weeks more, I should like very much to have all of this data in this year*s report, but it seems in advisable to wait for that length of.time to complete it (I might say in this connection that if for any reason there is less reason for hurry than we previously expected it would be a very fine thing to include all of this data in the report. I shall go ahead on the assumption that it is better to com plete the report at the earliest possible time, however). We are making very careful statistical comparisons of the several groups, and are preparing a somewhat lengthy report, with the result that m y whole staff is working at top speed. Even so, it appears quite certain that I haYe been a little optimistic and it will take approximately a week longer than I stated to complete the job. It is much better that it should be done properly and that none of our conclusions be arrived at hastily.
