Environmental Protection Agency Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards Research Triangle Park, N.C. 27711 Dear Mr. Goodwin: As noted in my letter to you dated May 20, 1975, Allied Chemical would complete its sampling of the oxychlor vent by June 15. The sampling has been effected. Sampling data and procedures utilized are identified in Table I and II attached. This submission completes your previous request for information. Should there be any questions, please contact the undersigned. Very truly yours. Corporate Assistant Director Air and Water Pollution Control WMR/nm cc: J. Flow Measurement Using a Lear-Sieqler stack sampling apparatus, flow was measured by traversing the diameter of the pipe with a pitot tube. Flow was calculated using the pitot tube reading, pipe diameter, pitot co-efficient and gas density. B. Samples Samples of the oxychlor stack were taken from either the manometer lines on the pitot tube or from a sample line inside the oxychlor blockhouse. Both points are only a few feet apart on the same process vent. A glass sample bomb was taped to minimize any change in the sample due to light. The bomb was evacuated and then connected to the sample point, purged with the sample gas and filled. C. Analysis Chromatograph: All samples were run using Model 2200 Bendix chromatograph (flame ionization detector). Two columns used for testing as follows: 1. 1/8" stainless 8' length packed with Chromosorb 102 80/100 Mesh (EPA Col.) 2. 1/8" stainless 20' length packed with 10"^ FFAD stationary phase on 80/100 mesh acid washed DMCS Chromosorb W solid support used for cross reference Operating Conditions: 1.
