PLAINTIFF'S EXHIBIT DUP-2453 Environmental Not* November 9, 1983 All Departments A1A Lawsuit Challenging CSKA Emergency Temporary Standard on Asbestos The Asbestos Information Association (AZA) has filed a lawsuit in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals challenging OSKA's issuance of an emergency temporary standard (ETS) on asbestos. As reported last week, the ETS lowers the permissible exposure limit (PEL) from 2 fibers/ec to 0.5 fibers/cc. The ETS was published in the Friday, November 4 Federal Register. The AZA is composed of approximately fifty companies which manufacture, use, or mine asbestos.
