RELIEF VALVE BLOWDOWN RING TESTING
H
VIS1A
On August 16, 1986, relief valve blowdown ring testing was done on four relief valves. Including testing done in May of 1984, all types of relief valves on the reactor have now been tested on the reactor under conditions similar to actual relief using air. The results of the testing are summarized in table 1. Reactor test conditions are summarized in table 2. Table 2 also summarizes results of the May, 1984 testing.
Recommendations for Reactor Relief Valves
It is recommended that the relief valve blowdown rings be set as given below.
(1) Set all 8 x 10 T orifice relief valves at 38 notches (both consolidated and Farris).
(2) Set all 6 x10 R orifice relief valves at 30 notches.
(3) Set all 4 x 6 P orifice relief valves at 30 notches.
(4) Set all 6 x 8 Q orifice relief valves at 30 notches.
(5) No other testing on reactors of this type seems necessary. The test results were consistent.
