Section I - INTRODUCTION
G&C Petroleum, Inc. / Ramsey Inspection Date: 01/30/2019
PURPOSE OF THE INSPECTION EPA Region 6 inspector K.W. Sanborn visited the G&C Petroleum, Inc. oil and gas facility located at the latitude 36.036317 and longitude -97.131575 near Stillwater, Oklahoma on 01/30/2019 for an unannounced inspection. Representatives of G&C Petroleum, Inc. were present for the inspection. The inspection was conducted by authority of the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act to determine compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
FACILITY DESCRIPTION This facility is known as the Ramsey Unit. This lease was previously owned by Special Energy Corporation. The facility has an EPA ID No. OKU000873.
Section II - OBSERVATIONS I observed that this facility was the site of a historical discharge of produced water. During the inspection, the current operator was grading the contaminated hillside and damaged surface. With a calibrated YSI 30 Pro Conductivity Meter, I conducted a creek survey of the nearby creek, and about a half mile south from the point of entry of the previous flow path along the nearby creek a total dissolved solids (TDS) reading of 1,650 milligrams per liter (mg/L) was taken. I observed piles of gypsum at the clean-up site as well.
Section III - AREAS OF CONCERN The hillside was being treated for the brine exposure. And the nearby creek still has slightly elevated TDS.
Section IV - FOLLOW UP Conduct a follow up inspection in approximately 2 months.
