Texas CAER group sponsors outreach activities l The Orange County, Texas CAER Group, composed of 12 companies, recently sponsored a meeting to discuss Title III emissions data with government officials, civic leaders and the public. The 100 attendees were shown ABC's '*20/20" segment in which Dr. Bruce Ames of the University of California at Berkeley discussed carcinogens from man-made and natural sources. In addition, they heard a speaker from the Texas Air Control Board present a review of the Board's air sampling study of Orange County. The conclusion was favorable toward industry and stated in part, "Analysis of data above detection limits and interpretation of the nondetectable data show no indication of health risk." When the meeting ended, attendees received a booklet with information about each company, its products and its contribution to the local economy. The booklet also lists emissions data and whom to contact for additional information. "Many people had favorable comments about industry taking the time to explain what Title III emissions data mean," said J. B.
