EXTRUDATES Draft of final sales brochure has been completed. The Extructor is now running routinely 8-12 hours/ day, 5-6 days/ week. The ten - inch Extructor has been ordered. All ancillary equipment for smoother operation is on order. 2. PPG Lab work is continuing to optimize the solids content for producing 2-1-0 form. We hope to be able to try in the plant early in November. A meeting has been tentatively scheduled for 11/19/84 in East Point, Ga. We now have a sample of Lead Cyanamid that PPG considers suitable. We are looking at having CRD do preliminary work on process development. 3. PACKARD ELECTRIC We now have the formulation Packard wishes us to use. Lab work will begin in November. 4. LECTRO 105 AND 65 These two new offerings from Associated Lead have been analyzed. Our best estimate of their compositions is: Lectro 65: A Monobasic Sulfo - Phthalate with a ratio of 26% Sulfate to 74% Phthalate. Lectro 105: A blend of 43% Tribase EXL, 52% Dythal, and 5% Calcium Carbonate. Based on this information, we are now attempting to de velop similar stabilizers. CYWI 1-000107 2 5. TRIANGLE PWC - TSC - 22 A sample of material plugging Triangle's Extruder screens was analyzed and found to be predominantly Lead Stabilizer. No further conclusions could be drawn because of a lack of informa tion at Triangle. 6 . LYNN - T5C-20 Lynn found that Cyastab 949 darkened0more than Lectro 90 in their formulation after 100 minutes at 220 C. Using Lynn's formulation we developed a stabilizer which equals the performance of Lectro 90. This stabilizer is a blend of 78% 918, 17% Calcium Carbonate and 5% Barium Stearate. ,/ '/ See Tabriz t ^a t results. 7. CAPITAL WIRE - TSC -12 A stabilizer was found to replace Envirostab 1160 across the-board in Capital's formulations. Initially, three candidates were screened in Capital's 105^ THH compound. The best candidate, Cyastab 918, was then compared to Envirostab 1160 in the other three formulations provided by the customer. Test ~rNes ul-bs--a rp -shown, in Tables II and III. 8. PARTICLE SIZE MEASUREMENT We have had a demonstration in our lab of the Horiba CAPA500 particle size distribution instrument. It appears satisfact ory for our purposes. We will look at other instruments before making a recommendation, however. B. PLANT GENERAL 1. COMPUTER The air pallet control program has been debugged and is now functioning. A program to keep track of payment of freight bills has been written and is ready for testing. C. COMPLAINTS There was one additional complaint submitted this month (PA 84-24 Pantasote) . This referred to the black specks in the 908 shipped in May, 1984. It was justified. CYW 1-000108 3 C.
